The body was completely removed from the frame.  The frame components were repaired and replaced as necessary.  Measurments were taken to ensure that it was straight and repairs were made to the framerails where a couple of torch cuts were made to mount different parts in the long life of the truck.  Steel grafts were welded in to close up small torch holes and all repairs were ground down smooth.  The fuel tank is frame mounted with side filler and a prefab part was shipped with the tank that was welded into the frame.  Frame was cut to allow this part to fit and the part was welded in an smoothed.  Also c-notches were installed to allow the rear axle more travel since the springs dropped the rear end 6 inches.  After all this dropping, shock trajectories changed so much that  the shocks would have done very little, if anything.  Brackets were fabbed up and the rear shocks were moved outboard the front shocks wer straightened and moved higher on the frame rail.  The frame and all of the components of the suspension were painted with Sherwin Williams Hi-Glo (Porsche Red) Paint.  The rear end is from a 74 C-10 and was modified to fit the trailing arms on the 63.  Axles as well as rotors are 5-lug.  Rotors and disk brake components are the products of Classic Performance Products.  Brake system came as a kit including the booster, proportioning valve, master cylinder, rotors, brackets and calipers.  The rear will continue to use the stock mid '70s drum brakes.  Springs are 4" drop and 2 additional inches are dropped by the spindles.  Also, at this stage the frame mount fuel tank was mounted, brake lines and fuel lines were run.
All the body components were test fitted and straightened out.  I actually cut two fenders in pieces and welded them back together to fabricate a "good" right fender in the front.  All of the steel body panels were bathed in phosphoric acid after the rust was removed.  This provides two benefits:  The steel is etched so the primer will stick and the bare steel is protected from rusting for the short term.  Very little body filler was used, but I mest admit, there are a few spots on the right fender and the left door that were filled.  I was unable to find a center hump that would fit exactly the way it neede to with the tranny/shifter combination, so three were used and cut up to fabricate the one needed.  I measured for and had a custom drive shaft built and balanced.  The inner fenders and  underside of thr cab were painted with Sherwin Williams Hi-Gloss Black and the Body was painted with a Sherwin Williams Ultra 7000 Custom Color.  The color is actually a very Deep Purple, but, in the sunlight it eminates red and blue sparkles.  This is very hard to reproduce in pictures.  I absolutely love the color on this truck and will say that I was looking for a purple from the beginning, but, the sparkle effect is really a bonus.  I fit the cab to the frame, dropped the motor in place and installed the transmission as well as the cross member.  Installed the headers and built the exhaust system.  Also at this stage the electrical system was installed as was the Air Conditioning system from Vintage Air.
