This is the place where we are placing some of the event memories that have shaped our lives.  Some fun, some serious, all have had their effect on our lives together.
Joining the US Army 1985 paved the way to meet my wife.  Growing up in a largely military family shaped my decision to join and I really feel that the sacrifice of freedom was absolutely worth the outcome in terms of education, knowledge, and attitude.
Seoul olympics 1988.  The wife and I had a realy good time at the olympics.  Neither of us is very athletic, but, we definitely revere the truly great among us.  Our participation was limited to watching some of the events.  I must thank my leaders in the Army for allowing this soldier some time off to see, what was certainly a "once in a lifetime" experience.
Fall of the Berlin Wall 1989.  As a true child of the "cold war"; one who remembers the "duck and cover" drills, the films about what to do when "the big one falls", dirving by the big missle at Strategic Air Commend headquarters and knowing why it was there, how to recognize a fallout shelter and why they were necessary, the falling of the wall was without a doubt one of the most influential events that I have witnessed in this lifetime.
Scruggs family impromptu reunion 1990.  We traveled a lot during my childhood years.  So much, in fact that we rarely ever saw most of the extended family.  There are few memories from my childhood of cousins, uncles, aunts, ...  you get the point.  I returned from Korea to the States with a new wife, mom and dad returned from England, My brother was released from the Navy, and My sister came with mom and dad.  In 1990, we all descended on Anniston, Alabama for the first time in nearly thirteen years and the rest of the family came to see what all the fuss was about.  We had a wonderful weekend.  The opportunity to do it again never did arrive.
